How Ionysis found their investors at GITEX AI EUROPE

Ionysis walked into GITEX AI EUROPE 2025 with an open mindset and left with the investment needed to scale their climate tech solutions.

With a modest booth at a newly launched tech event. Andreas Büchler didn’t anticipate just how quickly meaningful conversations would turn into serious opportunity at GITEX AI EUROPE, in Berlin. Until the event doors opened and connections started flowing.

“In the first moments, I was completely overwhelmed by the pure number of other start-ups. As soon as I started using the app to filter for interesting companies and to sort the ‘chaos’ it was a crazy opportunity to meet so many interesting people so close to each other. The whole scenery was super activating”, says the Co-Founder of Ionysis.

MATCHMAKING MADE PERFECT

Using the GITEX AI EUROPE app’s matchmaking tool, Andreas booked meetings with investors attending the event. Ionysis, producing electromechanical converters such as catalyst coated membranes to help decarbonization and generate green energy, was looking for climate tech investors. The concierge team organized the meetings, giving Andreas time to prepare the best pitch possible. .

The process was seamless and efficient.

“The app helped me find the investors instantly in the matchmaking area. Everything was perfectly on time. The investors where well prepared, we directly jumped into the most interesting open questions for both sides. I would say we passed the inflection point in the first minutes of the meeting”.

During these meetings, Andreas found a perfect match: German impact-focused investors committed to support Ionysis’ mission to scale applications with PFAS-free materials in climate tech. A couple of follow-up meetings after the event, “the necessary due diligence process and two months later, the deal was closed”.

MORE THAN CAPITAL: BUILDING THE FUTURE

Beyond investment, GITEX AI EUROPE opened the door to valuable peer-to-peer collaboration. The strong presence of AI companies and hardware data experts allowed Ionysis to team up with another electrochemistry startup, which is now helping improve its data-manipulation and LLM capabilities.

Another standout moment for Ionysis was being selected for the Semi-Finals of the Supernova Challenge – the competition of North Star Europe, the startup show of GITEX. Pitching in front of an audience and a panel of judges was and electrifying experience and, thanks to the nomination, Andreas and the team met the German Federal Ministry of Economics delegation and the German Startups Association, building connections for the future.

Ionysis Co-Founder was convinced, at last, by the results and authenticity of the event: “I loved the rawness and honesty of the show.”

For Ionysis, GITEX AI EUROPE 2025 wasn’t just an exhibition—it was a catalyst for investment, collaboration, and accelerated growth in Europe’s climate-tech ecosystem.
